By 2050 it is predicted that 70% of the world’s population will live in urban areas.

Urban environments present many challenges to population health such as a rising inequity in access to services, the dual burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases as well as the need for cross-sectoral collaboration to address social and environmental determinants of health. Globally, few cities are prepared with effective and sustainable solutions for addressing urban health issues.

Since 2017 the Georgetown Urban Health Collaborative has sought to address contemporary urban health complexities through social epidemiology. By developing educational material that is accessible to professionals working with urban populations, the collaborative seeks to address factors which impact the health of urban populations. From mental health to water supply, the collaborative welcomes a wide range of experts to share their insight and work together on one of the world’s most pressing health issues.
